About Legacy Design Group : as seen on YouTube

Legacy Design Group was incorporated in 2005 as a design-build-contracting firm. Our company’s emphasis is on residential and commercial custom design; and on construction management of select properties. Legacy Design Group is also is involved in design and consultation with other general contractors.

Legacy’s principal owner and general contractor, Harlan Heshelow, received his Florida General Contractors license in 1984. But his experience in the industry is even more extensive.

Harlan has been in the construction industry since the late 1970s, starting as a field superintendent for General Homes in Houston, TX. At the time, General Homes was one of the top 50 home building companies in the country. At one time, Harlan had 35 houses under his control, including 6 model homes. On relocating back to his hometown of St Petersburg, FL in 1984, he created a new company: HFH Construction, Inc. HFH grew from handling small room additions and remodeling to custom residential new construction, including commercial manufacturing plants, doctors' offices and townhouse projects.

In 1999, Harlan went into a partnership with a local development company whose starting project was a 15-unit townhouse project. The company built about 30 one-of-a-kind custom homes over the next five years, along with numerous remodeling projects.

In 2005, Harlan formed Legacy Design Group, Inc. as a design/build construction management firm. Legacy Design Group leverages Harlan's design expertise and knowledge to build and manage unique and custom residential and commercial projects.

The scope of projects with which Harlan has been involved range from small remodels to a 35,000 square-foot townhouse project; and to a 30,000 square-foot manufacturing plant. His custom homes have included a single family home that was, at the time, the largest in Indian Rocks Beach (5,500 square-foot ac, 6,500 square-foot under roof) and the largest single family home in Treasure Island (9,000 square-foot ac, 13,000 square-foot under roof).

Recently completed projects include a new custom home in the Pasadena Yacht Club (5,500 square-foot ac, 9,200 square-foot under roof), a 7,000 square-foot medical building in Seminole and a 6000 square-foot church in St Petersburg.

In the last several years, Legacy Design has designed more than 100 projects. These jobs include a condominium project on Clearwater Beach (11,000 square-foot under roof) and a retail/office complex in Tampa (15,000 square-foot).

His 30 years in the business, as well as the experience afforded by the large variety of projects he has undertaken, have given Harlan great expertise in custom home building and light commercial projects.

Legacy Design Group has extensive experience in designing and building energy efficient homes.  Some of these energy efficient items include insulated concrete forms (ICF), spray foam insulation, high efficiency windows, high seer air conditioning systems and design to take advantage of the site location. These items create excellent savings in energy costs.
